TASK2:exercise1
In week 5, we used a new typesetting design software called Adobe InDesign. InDesign is a layout and page design software that includes features to help print text formatting and page layout design.
Task 2 of typography requires us to select one of the three text options provided by the instructor and requires a 200x 200 (mm) backpage, text, lines and shadows to complete the layout.
The requirements of task 2 is as followed:
- Dimensions of 200mm x 200mm per page.
- Only in greyscale.
- Utilize the provided 10 typefaces.
- Only minor graphical elements are allowed, such as line, shade.
- No images allowed.

DESIGN PROCESS
We need to choose one of the three texts for the layout design. The editorial text I have chosen is "Rules for Building and Living." I previewed the article and found that the designer's approach to design is very interesting. As designers, we do not need to strictly follow these guidelines, but to follow our own ideas to create.
So I searched the Internet for some layout design references. This helps me find more inspiration.
IDEATION
The search on the Internet gave me three inspirations and designs. I created three rough sketches with changes to the title design. Use gray blocks to distinguish the position of the text.

LAYOUT
I made the above draft more complete. And use different fonts to reflect the digital text

FEEDBACK
Week6
General Feedback :
Is the title word to make people understand what the article is about. The graphics used should not be more compelling than the content of the text.
Specific Feedback:
The title can be presented at an oblique Angle. The leading text can be considered using the same font and different thicknesses. I should also use my own ten fonts and the correct page format.
Week7
General Feedback:
We revised the tasks for the first week and finished the homework for the second week.
Specific Feedback :
I should have focused more on the middle words in the title. The impact of words can be even better.
REFLECTIONS
Experience
Use what you learned in task1 to betterarrange these templates, and consider other elements to ensure that typesetting rules are met . However , it is still a little difficult for me ,and i am not satisfied with my work.
Obervation
In this exercise ,I learned the importance of reading more relevant books and consulting materials to explore the knowledge I lack .Mr. Viond says we should explore layout first ,and then move on to type expressions.
Finding
Doing research is also an important part of design . What I need to improve is not only the study of this category ,but also the continous adjustment of the layout and design with practice.
FUTRUE READING
Mr. Vinod recommended a book about typography design, the Typography Reference.
Typography is a hotly debated and even controversial subject in an era of unheard of typography. Typesetting computers had become a necessity, and the power of text design was demonstrated by the use of typeface games, with serifs first becoming commercially popular and first used in the early 19th century . Many designers have hundreds of fonts of their own and use them in their lives.
